At the penultimate stage of the Mitjet International championship of the season, the Russian Arctic Energy team in Albi was represented by Sergey Egorov and Povilas Jankavicius. The pilots raced at the Circuit D'Albi in the south of France for the first time. This circumstance affected the results in qualification, the athletes did not manage to secure their starting positions in the first rows of the grid. In addition, if at the last stage in Magny-Cours the team climbed to the podium four times, this time it was possible to do it only once. In the third race on Sunday, Povilas Jankavicius finished second thanks to the correct choice for accurate driving rather than aggressive overcomes:
“I noticed that my direct competitors Seveau and Bouet, in the heat of the struggle, touch the track border markers. I was convinced that this would lead to drive through, so I did not undertake risky overtaking, but patiently waited for the development of the situation, observing a decent pace. As a result, they received fines, which allowed me to rise to the second line of the podium, ” said Jankavicius.
The scoring shows that at the final stage in Ledenone the Arctic Energy team can become the champion, now the gap from the second place is quite comfortable - 6 points.
The team is now preparing for the final stage of the European Ligier Series, which will be held in Portimão, Portugal.
